Why would you want to buy it locally if kindle is made by amazon?

It is mainly because I want it asap so I thought that I could have it faster if there is a local reseller.

Afaik there is no local supplier.

In fact, I bought my Kindle Touch from the US via ebay.

If doing so, ensure that seller tags the parcel as a book or gift to avoid additional taxes, which are not levied on items originating from EU countries.

So, if I were to buy it from Amazon.com (US) and set it marked as gift, would I avoid any additional taxes?

Also, how long does it take for an item to arrive from the US?

I can, but I noticed that it is much cheaper from US (approx Eur30 difference) then from UK :/.
 

That's typical in all areas, they really ream us Europeans with VAT. But at the end of the day it will probably end up being cheaper from the uk website. Time and shipping costs are lower and there's no other payments.

The thing is that Amazon offers free shipping for the kindle from both websites...the thing that worries me are the hidden charges :/

Make sure to read the fine print if you're so worried.

I own a kindle I got from Amazon UK, I paid for the kindle and a little shipping. Got delivered in less than a week and I paid nothing else.
