12 million people can't be wrong
The heart of all MMORPGs, and mainstay of PC gaming, and with the largest player-base of any game in existence, there is little doubt that World of Warcraft provides gamers with a gaming experience which no other game does. Starting out in late 2004 (early 2005 in Europe), the game has been improved drastically for maximum enjoyment, together with 2 expansion packs, improvement in sounds, graphics and also gameplay balancing.

PVE is probably the most important part of World of Warcraft, with 25-man raids being the most popular form of group play in the game. PVP is also very popular, where thousands of players and teams take part in arena competitions with rankings. The game sometimes suffers from lag issues as well as server overloading, and a downside to the game would be that it is very addictive! Otherwise, as I stated in the title, 12 million people can't be wrong, and if you have the time and the money to pay monthly, World of Warcraft is definitely a game you should consider playing :) 5/5

They have done it right!
This MMORPG has by far captured pure innovation, balance and a stunning community. If you are into MMOs, then this is a MUST try! I lost a good 2 and half years of my life with this game.. Try it out at your own discretion!

OK....
I for one fail to understand the appeal of this game. Yes, I have played it and lost interest after about two months. i just don't understand whats so exciting about right click and hotbar, as andrazz put it
1,1,1,2,1,1,3
There is no actual skill involved, you're just letting the numbers and stats do all the work.
Oh but its all about role playing and character development they say!
Roleplaying? Chracter Development? Every character is the same, and i'm not just referring to the games lame character customisation I mean preset faces? Seriously Blizzard? Just take a look at Star Wars Galaxies from a year prior to see real customisation (Still arguably the most detailed of any game out there MMO or not)
I also mean how what class/faction you choose dictates exactly who your character will be, with little to no deviation possible.
And ah yes, the community, the much praised WoW community. Don't get me started! Its one of the main reasons I quit infact.
My Guild Master was some psycho who had 3 level 70 Horde characters and kicked me out of the guild for having an Alliance alt account.
Add a couple of prepubescent noobs into the mix(noobs as in the bad kind, those who think they know everything there is to know about the game and too arrogant to try to learn the ins and outs)
and yeah, you've got some community.
Give me an MMO with realtime combat or give me death!
EDIT: It appears i've got my wish: Darkfall Online
