Know Your Lanthrax Admins: Outsider & Icevid

LANThrax:  So, as our newbie admins please state your name, age, and new job here at LANThrax.
Outsider": Hello everyone. My name is Chris Grech and I’m 19 years old. Apart from giving suggestions and moderating the forums at LANThrax, I will be also helping out in making the website graphically more attractive.

Icevid: My name is Ryan Vidal and I'm 17. My job here is hardware review co-ordinator and I will be involved in a new feature which I am not at liberty to talk about right now.

LANThrax:  What is your favorite game of all time?
Outsider": I’m a big car-racing fan and I also like to spend hours modifying and tuning the cars the way I like them. So my favorite game of all time would be Need for Speed Pro Street.

Icevid: Now this is a though question. There are lot's of games which i really like but my favorite game of all time must be Gran Turismo 2.

LANThrax:  Which game would you throw into the flames of hell for all eternity?
Outsider": Hmmm... World Of Warcraft! To be honest I never played it, but I always hear guys talking about how addictive it is and that just doesn’t work out for me.(sorry if someone got offended :P)

Icevid: Another though one there are some games which I would throw into flames but the one I would mostly throw into flames must be the latest FIFA games because they are not showing much improvement from one game to another on the PC while on the console versions you can see it's much better looking etc etc...

LANThrax:  Although it’s still quite early, what has been the best game of 2008? (so far, at least)
Outsider": GRID, without any doubt. It’s the best driving simulation I ever tried. The feel of the car is very realistic and graphically its more advanced than any other racing game, in my opinion.

Icevid: Well for me the best game for 2008 is Race Driver: GRID

LANThrax:  Which game developer would you say had the greatest impact on PC gaming?
Outsider": I think EA made the greatest hits on PC gaming. They are continuously developing games under all categories, with which they hit all the gaming market. No matter what you're into, there is always going to be an EA game that suits you.

Icevid: I would say that is Valve with Team Fortress 2 made a great impact.

LANThrax:  What is the one most critical part to a gamer’s rig, in your opinion?

Outsider": That would be the graphic card. The better it is, the smoother and nicer the game will look, given that there aren’t any huge bottlenecks on the other components. The problem is that they tend to be a bit pricy. An easy solution would be; help out with the house work and make it obvious what you want for Christmas ;P

Icevid: In my opinion the most critical part is the Graphic Card

LANThrax:  If you had to choose a console, which would it be?
Outsider": I would most probably choose a PS3. I had always been a PS fan but since the online feature wasn't so popular on the older ones I got into PC gaming. Now that the PS3 became more online-oriented, its much harder to choose between it and a PC. It can handle very high graphics and still works smooth as well, so that is another plus.

Icevid: If I had to choose a console I would choose the Playstation 3 just because I want to play Gran Turismo 5

LANThrax:  Technology is advancing rather quickly. Will you need to modify your rig somehow?

Outsider": I think I am good for another year or so, but I will most probably have to replace all the components on my next upgrade because of the changes in the sockets. Currently i have an 8800GT, e6750 @3GHZ and 2Gig ram with which i can play most of the games at high graphics/resolutions.

Icevid: Shouldn't need any at least not until next year or so

LANThrax:  How did you find out about LANThrax?
Outsider": Back then when I used to play Call of Duty 2 (a lot) I remember being in a clan called “insane-gaming” and one of my team-mates mentioned LANThrax. I decided to join the community hoping to learn more about computer-related stuff, being a newbie in this area at that time. I must admit that it helped a lot!

Icevid: I got to know about LANThrax from Call of Duty 2. Me and my friends started a clan and we said let's register it on LANThrax, and we did and here I am ;)

LANThrax:  What kept you interested in the site for so long?
Outsider": The site is very active and I really liked that. If I had to ask a question about something I know that I could just open a thread and have an answer within a few minutes. Also, reading other people’s threads and articles is extremely informative.

Icevid: What kept me interested are the forums. They were and are some of the most active forums which i have ever visited.

LANThrax:  What’s your favourite part of the website?
Outsider": I like the forums a lot. Whatever I would want to know more about, I’m pretty sure I can find it in the forums. Whenever I’m feeling a bit down, there is always some joke thread which brightens up my day. There is a thread for every occasion! The forums also help in keeping up to speed with today’s advances in technology.

Icevid: My favorite part are the forums with all their activity.

LANThrax:  Seeing as you’re now an admin, and you’re now seeing our behind the scenes work and secrets, what is the impression you have?

Outsider": Well, the dedication all the admins have for this community is something out of the question. I never knew how much work and time it takes, to put up a website/server such as this one. Considering that the admins are using up most of their free time to further improve this community, I say that everyone should be very grateful! Still, I’m very glad that you guys let me in to help out :)

Icevid: The impressions I have are those of seriousness and the want to work to maintain and improve this site

LANThrax:  Member vs. Admin – what do you feel is the relationship between the two, and can it be improved?
Outsider": I think the relationship is fairly good. Members always help admins improve the site by giving suggestions. On the other hand the admins do their best to fulfill the requests. The only way I can think of, to further improve the relationship is by organizing get togethers similar to “LANThrax lunch” so everyone could get to know each other in person.

Icevid: The relationship between the two seems to be very good. When a member needs something or has a problem he is always answered which isn't the case in all websites and forums

Guns don’t kill people....Outsider" does....but only during full moons....
A little known fact about "outisder" is that he is called that way because he will never be "inside" such a car!

LANThrax:  Last question – How do you see LANThrax developing this year?
Outsider": For sure, the Lanthrax community will grow bigger and better than ever. At this point I can’t really say whats up our sleeves, I don’t want to be a spoiler. All I can say is that there are going to be some big changes and I’m 100% sure that all the members will love it ;)

Icevid: The development seems to be very good with all the new features that have been added like the gallery and mini games and all the new features that there will always be.
