1. No Avatar & Custom Title Abuse.
These are a luxury and abuse of them will result in them being
lost and your account being restricted. Users may not upload or
encourage others to upload avatars or links to material considered
patently offensive in nature. This includes, but is not limited to:
vulgar, profane, or sexually explicit language; using race,
religion, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity, handicap,
nationality, or gender as a means of insult; using threatening,
harassing, defamatory, hate-speech, or libelous language; uploading
material considered pornographic, obscene, graphic, macabre, or hate
speech. Voting such avatars is considered as aproval and grounds for
equal punitive action.
2. No Cursing or Swear words.
Although we encourage you to use the news comments and forums,
please refrain from using bad language especially against other
people. Refrain from using inappropriate language, including
language that may look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate,
or insinuate profanity, hate speech (including but not limited to
racial, ethnic, or religious slurs), illegal drugs/controlled
substances or illegal activities (including electronic piracy).
Trying to circumvent the web site foul language filter can result in
immediate post deletion and later to an account ban.
If you are a long standing member, act like one; lead by example and
assist other newer users rather than attacking them. We look upon
our veteran users to use this opportunity to teach the newer users
the appropriate way to conduct themselves in this community.
3. No Flaming
Personal attacks such as
flaming, instigating verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts
are not tolerated at LANThrax. Such posts will be deleted on sight
and moderated accordingly.
As above, if you are a long standing member, act like one. Lead by
example and assist other newer members rather than attacking them.
Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be
dealt with and shown no mercy.
4. Use a title that describes the content of your post.
Don't use all caps or special characters to draw
attention. 5. Unacceptable Forum or News comments.
While some members feel that post count is important, there are
some posts that we feel do not contribute to the community in any
way what-so-ever. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something
that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner. Also
avoid disrupting (or attempt to) anyone else's sale attempts. If you are
not interested in purchasing the item then please keep your comments to
yourself. Posting claims about cheaper identical products will not pass
by unnoticed and could result in penalties, especially if no solid
links are provided. There is no "most frequent poster" award.
6. LANThrax is not a support forum for affiliates or related
sites.
Comparing, judging the content/value or raising the opinion of
other sites, recruiting members or staff, bad mouthing (or
victimizing) & negative discussion about non/affiliate site issues
on our forums is neither wanted or tolerated.
7. No spamming, Ever!
Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts
that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.
Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no
relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that
state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a
member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not
appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This
determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is
not up for discussion.
8. Do not advertise your website
LANThrax forums should not be used to direct traffic to other people's sites. Members creating an account simply to advertise their site or their club's site will have their account terminated instantly and without warning. Veteran members who do that will be given a chance to make amends for their actions.
The only exception where members are allowed to make links to their sites is in the "Web Developers Association" group threads.
9. LANThrax requires that members respect the decision of
moderators.
Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum
moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action
taken (up to and including site bans) against the thread starter
and/or participants. However, as a member you reserve the right to
Private Message any moderator or administrator regarding action
taken at LANThrax.
10. Do not abuse the report system.
While we appreciate members reporting spelling mistakes and
grammatical errors (and we also award points for that), we don't
appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at
handling problems around here.
11. No alternate accounts are allowed.
Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not
allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post.
Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that
ability by re-registering is not tolerated. If another account is
opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original
account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their
account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.
Developers of this web site might have multiple accounts that are
ONLY used for testing and administrative purposes.
12. Respect other people's privacy.
Please avoid uploading pictures showing other people without asking their permission. Note that there is no way for the
administration to know whether such pictures are posted with the consent of all those portrayed, so these will not be removed automatically. However, admin will remove such pictures on request by the subject once his/her identity is proved.
13. Event "No Shows" will not be welcome for other events.
Please understand that admins put a lot of thought and effort into creating fun events for all members. What we ask in return, is that if you sign up for an event, you do everything in your power to attend. If you think you cannot make it, please use the "Eject" button so that the admins have a better idea of who is coming and who is not and hence can re-organize the event accordingly. This is particularly important where teams have to be set up, or reservations have to be made. It also has a negative effect on other members where there is a limit to the amount of members that can participate. In cases where an event is on first come first served basis, no shows are actually taking the place of other members that would have otherwise made it to the event. Any members who sign up for an event but do not show up and do not even bother to inform the administration, will incur penalties ranging from being banned from future events to being banned from the community altogether (depending on previous performance).
14. LANThrax reserves the right to change or alter these rules at
any time and an Administrator’s word is final.
